Schobertechnologies develops, manufactures and supplies rotary tools, modules or complete production lines in a wide variety of designs. Mechanical cutting or perforating can be done by using cutting-, anvil cylinders, circular knives and industrial blades.
The combination of cutting materials can be specially adapted to your application. Production speeds of up to 600 m/min are common for rotary cutting.

With our contour cutting technologies, even complex shapes can be realized in the highest quality. Schober’s rotary systems combine flexibility, precision and productivity – ideal for customized packaging designs, labels and specialty products.
Rotary cutting technologies are used for the form cutting of materials, laminates, non-wovens and films as thin as 10μm. Using state of the art CNC-technique almost any imaginable cutting contour can be achieved. Small product quantities are mostly die cut with monobloc cutting cylinders (HSS), made of tool steel or by the use of magnetic cylinders/flexible dies. Larger product quantities are preferably made with segemented die cutting tools. High alloy steel, powder metallurgical steels or tungsten carbide are primarily used as cutting segment materials. Die cutting segments can be exchanged easily when damaged. All die cutting materials serve as well as anvil materials. In addition coatings can be chosen to protect against corrosion, wear and sticky materials.
These cutting cylinders can be mounted into existing frames or into high precise modules made by Schobertechnologies. Schobertechnologies modules offer features for setting and controlling the die cutting/converting gap by microns. Exact product separation, wear compensation and maximum life time of the die cutting tool go without saying.

Precise separation without damaging the liner
In half cutting or kiss cutting, material layers are precisely separated without damaging the carrier material. Schobertechnologies ensures maximum accuracy, long tool life and efficient production – ideal for the label and packaging industry.
Half cuts (e.g. for opening aids or self-adhesive labels) are used for the targeted cutting or perforation of single-layer or multi-layer materials, which can also be equipped with barrier properties. During the ingate only a part of the material thickness will be cut. Since thin materials are also often cut, precise infeed is required.
The micrometrically accurate infeed takes place via conical guide rings (Gap Control System) or electronically via a backlash-free spindle system.

High precision longitudinal perforations
Our solutions for longitudinal perforations deliver precise results across a wide variety of materials – from films and paper to cardboard. The rotary systems ensure consistent quality, high speed and maximum flexibility – perfect for packaging, labels and technical applications.
Length perforations are often generated with perforating wheels in rotary cutting machines. In addition to length perforations (for separating materials), corrugated perforations are also produced in some cases to create security features. The perforating wheels can be pneumatically pivoted and lifted using the blade holders. The cutting gap between the anvil cylinder and the perforating wheels can be precisely calibrated for each knife individually using an adjustment device integrated in the knife holder. This has the advantage that new and already refurbished perforating wheels can be used at the same time. Generally, the perforating wheels are driven by the material web or indirectly by the anvile cylinder. Working widths of up to 1000 mm at working speeds of up to 300 m/min are common. The anvil cylinder is usually driven by a servo motor. In addition to the perforating machines, modules and knife holders, Schobertechnologies supplies standard perforating knives from stock. Special sizes can be supplied upon request.

Scissor cutting for clean edges and precise results
High-quality cuts even at high production speeds
With Schober’s scissor cutting technology, you achieve clean cut edges and precise results even at high production speeds. The process is suitable for a wide range of materials such as films, paper or carton, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency in production.
During the scissor cut, the upper knive interlocks with the cutting edge of the bottom knive and is pressed against it by a spring. The targeted shearing of the material produces a smooth cutting edge. This type of knife is used in continuous form and label printing machines, high-performance slitter rewinders and in production lines with high-performance slitting systems for processing paper, films, laminates and cardboard. Schobertechnologies supplies top cutting knives from stock. Lower cutting knives and cutting knife holders can be supplied promptly. Units for holding the knives are manufactured to customer specifications if required. Grinding machines are also available for grinding circular knives on site.
During the scissors cut the upper knife is pressed with a spring against the edge of the lower knife. Due to the shearing process a smooth cutting edge is created.
This knife system is mainly used to convert paper, foil, laminates and cartons in continuous forms and label printing machines, high performance slitters as well as special converting systems with high performance cutting systems.
Schobertechnologies supplies the scissor cutting knives from stock. Counter knives and knife holders can be supplied on short notice. Taylor made modules for the fixation of the knife holders can be manufactured on demand.

Pressure cutting for cost-efficient material processing
A proven method for economical cutting
Crush cutting is a well-established process for the cost-efficient cutting of flexible materials. Schober systems provide high process reliability and efficiency, especially in the processing of paper, films and label materials. This solution is characterized by simple handling and strong cost-effectiveness.
During the pressure cut the cutting knife is pressed against a flat surface (anvil cylinder). Compared to the scissor cut, the pressure cut displaces the material. The knife is mainly driven by the web (anvil cylinder) passing by.
Schobertechnologies supplies knives for the installation into existing machines and/or to be fixed into knife holders made by Schobertechnologies.

Cross-cutting knives, hardened and grinded, made of high-alloy steel are used in electronically controlled cross-cutting machines. Cross-cutting knives and perforating lines can be tensioned mechanically or pneumatically (quick-change version). Schobertechnologies supplies standard cutting & perforating lines from stock in commercially available dimensions and cut/bar pitches. Both as single pieces and on rolls. Special designs can be supplied upon request.

Using a razor blade is an easy way to separate thin materials such as films. They can be fixed by a magnet (quick change version) or within fixation pins. Some blade holders can be heated to seal cutting edges or to achieve higher converting speeds. Schobertechnologies supplies standard razor blade holders on short notice.
